Arvin Sloane is a fascinating tangle of contradictions. Brilliantly portrayed by Ron Rifkin, he's a cunning, manipulative, ruthless bastard, but his vulnerability and odd sense of loyalty and devotion help make this villain such a complicated, interesting character. Other than his wife Emily, the most important thing in Sloane's life has been his zealous quest to solve the mystery of Milo Rambaldi, a pursuit that has taken him quite literally to the ends of the earth.
