The Fanlistings
A fanlisting is a website that gathers and lists the fans of something. There are fanlistings for movies, albums, actors, foods... even other websites! This addictive idea is the brainchild of the lovely Janine, and you can find out more about it here.

Danielle Rousseau
From her S.O.S., Lost's survivors don't know whether the "French woman" is still alive after all those years, but in 'Solitary', episode 1.09, Sayid comes face to face with her. Specifically, he becomes her prisoner.

After following a power cable from the beach and getting caught in a trap, Sayid wakes up strapped to a metal bed frame. He is given repeated electric shocks while his captor calls to him in different languages, each time asking the same question: "Where is Alex?"

Sayid realizes he's being held by the woman who sent the distress call. Her name is Danielle Rousseau, and she was stranded when her research team's ship sank near the island. Her love, Robert, died on the island, along with the rest of her group. And even though Sayid repairs a music box for her, a keepsake that she's overjoyed to be able to listen to again, she will not let him leave. He needs her, she insists, if he's going to survive.

Danielle proves to be a capable survivalist, collecting her weapons to hunt bear for dinner, but her prisoner takes the opportunity to escape. An armed standoff wins Sayid his freedom, even though she has removed the firing pin from his rifle. Sayid didn't notice that when he took the gun. Neither did Robert, says Danielle, when she had to shoot him. He was sick, she says, just as the others were. She had no choice but to kill them. Sayid is astonished she would do such a thing, but he still invites her to come back with him. Danielle won't go, though. And she warns him to keep a close eye on the people he's so determined to get back to. But before he leaves, he asks her who Alex was? She answers him sadly, "Alex was my child."

Sayid limps away on his wounded leg convinced that years of isolation have driven Danielle mad. After all, aside from her claims that she killed the rest of her party - for their own good, of course - she also talked about some mysterious "others" on the island. Others who were the carriers of the strange sickness that took her friends, others who whisper in the jungle. But on his way back something eerie happens. Aside from the whistling of the wind, Sayid hears something else as he heads for home. There's whispering in the trees.
