Quotes
Luke: I've sent your servants to bring you some food.
Master: Good. Luke?
Luke: Yes?
Master: Bring me something... young.
Master: Is this for me?
Luke: An offering, Master.
Darla: He's a good one. His blood is pure.
Master:: You've tasted it. I'm your faithful dog. You bring me scraps.
Darla: I-I didn't mean to--
Master: I have waited. For three score years I have waited. While you come and go I am stuck here in this house of... worship. My ascension is almost at hand. Pray that when it comes I am in a better mood.
Master: She escaped? She walks free when I should be drinking her heart's blood right now? Careless.
VampColin: Master, we had her trapped.
Master: Oh, are you going to make excuses? You are all weak. It has been too long since you have faced a Slayer. Hmph, it is no matter to me. She will not stop the Harvest. Just means there'll be someone worth killing when I reach the surface. Is Luke ready?
VampColin: He waits.
Master: It's time. Bring him to me. Uh, Colin? You failed me. Tell me you're sorry.
VampColin: I'm sorry.
Master: There. That wasn't so bad, was it? Oh, hold on. You've got something in your eye.
[Jams his finger into Colin's eyeball]
Master: And there will be a time of crisis, of worlds hanging in the balance. And in this time shall come the Annointed, the Master's great warrior. And the Slayer will not know him, will not stop him. And he will lead her into Hell. As it is written, so shall it be. Five will die, and from their ashes the Annointed shall rise. The Brethren of Aurelius shall greet him and usher him to his immortal destiny. As it is written, so shall it be. And one of the Brethren shall go out hunting the night before and get himself killed because he couldn't wait to finish his job before he ate... oh, wait. That's not written anywhere.
Master: The taking of a life... I'm not talking about humans, of course... is a serious matter.
Colin: So you would spare them?
Master: I am weary, and their deaths will bring me little joy.
[Darla stakes The Three]
Master: Of course, sometimes, a little is enough.
Master: Do I sense a plan, Darla? Share...
Darla: Angel kills her and comes back to the fold.
Master: Angel. He was the most vicious creature I ever met. I miss him.
Colin: Forget her.
Master: How dare you? She was my favourite. For four hundred years.
Colin: She was weak. You don't need her. I'll bring you the Slayer.
Master: But to lose her to Angel... He was to have sat at my right hand, come the day.
Master: Fear is a wonderful thing. It is the most powerful force in the human world. Not love, not hate, fear. When you were a mortal boy, what did you fear?
Colin: Monsters.
Master: We are defined by the things we fear. This symbol [walks over to a large cross], these two planks of wood, it confounds me. Suffuses me with mortal dread. But fear is in the mind. [He grasps the cross, and his hand starts to smoke.] Like pain, it can be controlled. If I can face my fear, it can not master me.
Billy: I guess they're gonna bury somebody. I wonder who died.
Master: Nobody died! What's the fun of burying someone if they're already dead?
Buffy: You...
Master: So, this is the Slayer. You're prettier than the last one.
Master: Come on, Slayer. What are you afraid of? How about being buried alive?
Giles: [reading the Codex] ...finetae taute te nocti... "The Master shall rise..." Yes, this is it! "The Master shall rise, and the Slayer..." My god.
Master: [as the earthquake hits Sunnydale] Yes! Yes! Shakers! This is a sign. We are in the final days! My time has come - glory, glory! [the tremors subside] Whaddayathink? Five-point-one?
Jenny: Okay, so this Master guy tried to open the Hellmouth, but he got stuck in it. And now all the signs are reading that he's gonna get out, which opens the Hellmouth, which brings the demons, which ends the world.
Giles: Yes, that about sums is up.
Jenny: The part that gets me, though, is where Buffy is the Vampire Slayer. She's so little.
Jenny: You fight the Master and you'll die.
Buffy: Maybe. Maybe I'll take him with me.
Master: Welcome.
Buffy: Thanks for having me. You know, you really ought to talk to your contractor. Looks like you've got some water damage.
Master: Oh, good. The 'feeble banter' portion of the fight.
Master: You still don't understand your part in all this, do you? You are not the hunter. You are the lamb.
Master: You tried. It was noble of you. You heard the prophecy that I was about to break free, and you came to stop me. But prophecies are tricky creatures. They don't tell you everything. [whispers in her ear] You're the one that sets me free. If you hadn't come, I couldn't go. Think about that.
Master: By the way, I like your dress.
Master: Come forth, my child. Come into my world.
Buffy: I don't think it's yours just yet.
Master: You're dead.
Buffy: I may be dead, but I'm still pretty. Which is more than I can say for you.
Master: You were destined to die! It was written!
Buffy: What can I say? I flunked the written.
Master: Did you really think you could best me here when you couldn't below?
Buffy: You have fruit punch mouth.
Master: What?
Buffy: Master's gone.
Giles: I'm sorry?
Buffy: The Master. I went by his grave last night, and they have a vacancy.
Giles: Good God.
Willow: What would somebody want with Master bones?
Xander: A trophy? Horrible conversation piece?
Giles: To revive the vampire they need his bones... which they have... and the blood, this is fairly unclear, of the closest person... someone connected to the vampire.
Buffy: That'd be me.
Giles: Perhaps.
Buffy: We were close. We killed each other. It really promotes togetherness.
Xander: So, we Bronzin' it tonight?
Willow: Wednesday's kinda beat.
Xander: Well, we could grind out enemies into talcum powder with a sledgehammer, but, gosh, we did that last night.
Master: Ah, Xander. Willow. Hungry? I've lost my appetite for this one. She keeps looking at me. I'm trying to eat, and she *looks* at me!
Master: Behold the technical wonder which is about to alter the very fabric of our society. Some have argued that such an advancement goes against our nature. They claim that death is our art. I say to them... well, I don't say anything to them because I kill them.
Master: She's still alive, you see. For the freshness.
Darla: Do you even know what I am?
Master: A woman of some property. No husband, no inheritance. Yes, I know what you are.
Darla: I'm a whore.
Master: Well, yes, that too. You should have asked for a priest long ago, child. Your life may have been the better for it.
Darla: And you should have paid me a visit before today, Father. Your life may have been more interesting because of it.
Darla: Let the devil take me if he'll have me. Either way, I die.
Master: No, you will not die. You will be reborn.
Darla: I know you.
Master: I came to you last night. I sang to you from that window.
Darla: You're death?
Master: No.
Darla: What, then?
Master: I am your saviour.
Angelus: So Darla here tells me you're some sort of master.
Darla: *The* Master. He commands our order.
Master: The Order of Aurelius. We are the select, the elite.
Angelus: And ya' live in the sewers, do ya'?
Master: We stalk the surface to feed and grow our ranks. We do not live amongst the human pestillence.
Angelus: I'll be honest. You really couldn't with that face, now, could ya'?
Darla: Angelus!
Angelus: It's not stuck like that now, is it?
Darla: The Master has grown past the curse of human features.
Angelus: I'm not gonna get a bat nose like that, huh? Am I?
Master: Very few vampires are cunning enough to have lived as long as I have. Which you now demonstrate.
[He lifts Angelus with one hand and throws him against the wall.]
