About
The Fanlistings A fanlisting is a site that gathers together the many fans of something. There are fanlistings for movies, foods, actors, toys... or in this case, the character of John Locke on ABC's Lost! This fun and addictive idea is the brainchild of the lovely Janine, and you can find out more about it here. John Locke Played by the talented Terry O'Quinn, Locke seems unnaturally calm about being 'lost'. As we discovered in episode 1.04, Locke was on the ill-fated flight because he'd been turned away from the walkabout he'd planned for years after the tour's directors saw that he was confined to a wheelchair. But when he awoke on the island, he was suddenly able to walk again. Awkward and introverted before the crash, Locke had limited social skills. He enjoyed playing war/stragegy games on his lunch break with his friend at work, who called him the Colonel, but he was often berated by his young, insensitive boss. Before going to Australia, he invited Helen, the woman in his life, to come along. But she turned him down, as her job discouraged her from socializing with the customers... and if he didn't hang up, she'd have to charge him for an additional hour. In contrast to his social awkwardness, Locke also possesses a confident, philosophical side. He seems to have spent a lot of time considering human nature. And he has proven himself both daring and capable, returning from his solo hunting trips with boar meat for the survivors to eat. On his first hunt, he was confronted by a gigantic creature capable of knocking down trees and mauling a man to bits in seconds. He appeared to come face to face with it but amazingly returned to the camp unharmed. And when asked whether he saw the beast, oddly, he denied it. So even as we learn more about Locke, the mysteries that surround him continue to grow. |
