The JSA
The Justice Society of America was comics' first superhero team, formed during WW II in the pages of All-Star Comics. As Superman said in 'Virtue and Vice', "The Justice Society of America has always been a source of inspiration to us. You people were the first. The model for the rest of us to follow." There have been numerous changes in the JSA's roster in the decades since the team was formed. Several of the founding members still remain; others have been followed by the next generation. But through the years, the JSA has always stood apart as the standard to which all other teams aspire.
