James Originally from California, James Wesley Marsters' first love is the theatre. After studying at Juilliard, he was involved in regional theatre in Chicago, co-founding the New Mercury Theatre, which he moved with to Seattle. He also did an apprenticeship with the Pacific Conservatory in Santa Maria, but he seems to feel he learns more about his craft by doing than by study. Disenchanted with the 'starving artist' lifestyle, he moved to L.A. in 1997 "willing to be the new Alf if [he] needed to". Fortunately his obvious talent found him gainfully employed on Buffy and Angel. Other TV appearances have included Northern Exposure, Andromeda, Millennium, Strange Frequency, a voice role on Spider-Man, and the 2001 mini-series The Enforcers. He has also appeared in such films as Chance, Winding Roads, and House on Haunted Hill. James also performed with the band Ghost of the Robot, whose album 'Mad Brilliant' was released in February, 2003. James has since released a solo album entitled "Civilized Man".
