S/H History

Harmony and Spike met when... well, we don't actually know when or how they met, but Spike assures us it was a funny story. We do know it was after Drusilla left Spike for a fugus demon and obviously sometime after Harmony's death in the S3 finale. At any rate, by the time Harmony showed up in Season 4's The Harsh Light of Day, she was head over heels for her new boyfriend, Blondie Bear. Spike didn't much like the nickname - or Harmony herself, for that matter. In fact, she pretty much drove him crazy.

Spike & Harmony came to Sunnydale in search of the Gem of Amara. She wanted him to take her places - mostly to France - but he was focused on his goal. They had a pretty hot and heavy sex life, absent Dru's bondage fetish, but Harm's incessant nattering drove Spike so insane that he finally decided he'd had enough and staked her. Fortunately for Harmony, she was wearing the Gem at the time, so the wound instantly healed. But Spike didn't hesitate to grab the ring and leave her behind.

Broken-hearted, Harmony might never have seen Spike again, but after he failed to take the Gem from Angel in LA, he returned to Sunnydale and was captured by The Initiative. After his escape, Spike went to their lair to pick up some weapons and found Harmony busy redecorating the place. He told her that he'd missed her, that they'd go anywhere she wanted, do anything she liked, just as soon as he killed the Slayer. Of course, Spike had no intention of staying - he left again just as quickly as he appeared, and Harmony burned his stuff.

It wasn't long before he begged her to take him back, what with the fancy new chip in his head making him unable to hunt or feed. He very nearly charmed his way back into her good graces, but the self-help books she'd been reading (and the stake hidden under her pillow) gave Harm the strength to tell Spike to piss off. You go, girl.

By S5, Harmony had gained just enough self-confidence to be dangerous. Almost. Spike teased her, finding her delusions of being the next Big Bad adorable. Then Harm's plan inevitably failed, and she begged him to help her hide out from Buffy. Unable to do much damage himself, Spike took her in, in exchange for sex, which she was more than willing to provide. Together they tried to get Spike's chip removed - yet another failed plan - and it wasn't long before Spike began to fall for Buffy. He fantastized about the Slayer while in bed with Harm, but she carried on cluelessly (what with her still being Harmony and all).

Things seemed fine on Harmony's end until the night she came home to find Spike talking with Drusilla. To Harm's credit, she wasn't intimidated and let the older vampire have it, berating her for breaking her "sweet Boo-Boo's" heart. But Boo-Boo wasn't especially grateful. With Dru back, he had no need for Harmony, a point he punctuated by flinging her violently against the wall. But he wouldn't have the last word. Later that night, during Spike's insane 'love me or die' exercise with Buffy and Dru, Harmony decided to make a point of her own. With a crossbow. The bolt missed his heart, though, and they fought until Spike saw Buffy in danger. His choice clear, Harmony gathered all the dignity she had left and officially ended things, stomping out of the crypt. Actually, she backed her way out, but the stomping was implied.

They would never see each other again before he was burned to dust. After, however, is a different story...

When Spike's ashes coalesced at Wolfram & Hart, Angel's new assistant, Harmony, was there to welcome her Blondie Bear back to the realm of the... well, not the living. And when a box of... something... arrived in the mail to make Spike corporeal again he eagerly grabbed Harmony for a little got-his-body-back fun. She turned him down flatly, but a simple compliment changed her mind easily enough. They grabbed a desk for a little afternoon delight, but Harmony came down with a slight case of possession. Bleeding from her eyes, she bit Spike on the neck until he pulled away, then screamed at him that she wasn't his and she wasn't his "slayer whore".

When Spike decided to leave town he barely paused to tell Harmony goodbye. But he quickly got over his wanderlust and came back, arriving at the gang's new watering hole to find Harmony looking despondent and alone after a vengeful co-worker tried to frame her for murder. She was sad about not being included in the office's "inner circle" and thought she didn't matter, but Spike kindly pointed out that she did matter. She mattered enough for someone to want her dead, which oddly enough, made Harmony feel a lot better about herself. They shared a drink to celebrate her mattering, a moment of understanding that gave some closure to their stormy relationship.
